This week for my blog I am going to be talking about a presentation we did on genocides. A genocide is a mass killing based off of a culture, race, color, religion, etc. We were all put into groups and we chose which person we wanted to do a powerpoint on. Our group Saddam Hussein. He was the fifth president of Iraq and he created chaos in Iraq. He started a war with Iran and then during that war he killed anyone that was in his way of rising to power. He especially hated Kurdish people. He killed over 500,000 people in two decades. He was a terrible guy who went into hiding and then was found by the american army. He was found in a spider hole underground in his hometown where he grew up with his uncle. He was in that spider hole for six months. The american army captured Saddam Hussein and then we gave him back to the Iraq government where he went through trial and was charged for 2,000 murders and was sentenced to death by hanging. Overall he was a crazy harmful man who did a lot of harm on innocent people. After he was overthrown Iraq was in shambles . It was very hard for them to recover. Overall Saddam Hussein was a bad person who killed thousands of innocent people for no reason in particular but for fame and power over Iraq. Overall this was sad and dark time for Iraq and today is still remembered. To this day people are still hurting from it today. The world will never be the same after what Saddam hussein did to the world and especially to Iraq and Iraq people and the Kurdish people he did not like. http://www.biography.com/people/saddam-hussein-9347918

She also helped get many plays and and productions started at the Steppenwolf theater. She made a huge impact in the theater community and she will be missed for ever. We truly love her and miss her already. Lavey’s first play to get started at the Steppenwolf was the Buried Child. This production helped launch Lavey to stardom. She was an amazing woman and figure in society today. She was truly inspiring.. She was well known in the theater industry and will forever be remembered she is an inspiring woman. We will always remember her and love her. She also attended Northwestern for her masters. She will truly be missed and loved forever and my heart goes out to the families who were affected by this tragedy. As I mentioned earlier she died from a stroke and she was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a few hours later. She was a great woman who we will all love and miss. She will be forever in our hearts and we love her forever and always. Martha Lavey was an inspration to me and to many. We will always have her in our hearts we love you Martha Lavey. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/27/theater/martha-lavey-dead-artistic-director-of-steppenwolf-theater.html This week for my blog I am going to talk about a book we are reading. The book is called Night. The book is about a young jewish boy named Eliezer Wiesel that was captured with his whole family by the Germans. They were shipped of in hermetically sealed cattle cars. They were driving for many days. Once they arrived they were told to leave all of their belongings inside the cattle car. They were asked their ages and the soldiers moved them to different lines. Some people were moved to the creamitoria or they moved to a line to work. The entire time Eliezer wanted to stay with his father. A random inmate said to Elie that he is eighteen and that his father is 40. What the inmate was doing is telling them what they should say their ages are so they can be together and not die. They told the guard and got in the same line. Elie thought they were in the crematory line and began to prepare himself for his death but they actually went to work. Later on in the book Elie ends up ignoring his father when his father is crying out for help because a soldier is beating him to death. Elie ignores him because he does not want to get beaten. At Aushwitz they stayed and worked for three weeks. Then they were sent to Buna another concentration camp for Jewish people. This book is really interesting and tells us all lot about what people went through in the concentration camps. This was a truly dark and sad time for society. This is an amazing book and taught our class a lot about history and what people went through in those horrible times of the world. This is a great book. http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/night/ This week for my blog I am going to be talking about my SLE. This week we were working on our SLE Essay. WE are doing out SLE this may. What an SLE is a Student Learning Expectations. We choose an important topic in the world and we make a presentation that we present to the eighth graders and the middle school teachers. We talk about how we could fix the issue what is our call to action with this topic. All of the eighth graders do it. We talk about why it is important why we should fix and how we should fix it. My SLE topic is equality. In my essay I talk about how it effects our lives and how it effects social media, news, and politics. This is very important because a lot of people re getting mistreated because of they’re are getting judged based in their looks, race, and gender. Also men are getting payed more than women when I believe that all of am kind is equal men are not better than women and women are not better that men. All people are equal. This why I feel so strongly about this topic. My whole life I have grown up around women. I have seen them thrive in a world where men seem to have priority. All of my for the most part are women and to see them thrive in a world where men are priority is insane. This why I feel so strongly about this topic and want to do my SLE on it. In conclusion this week we are working on out SLEs and my topic is equality. I feel so strongly on this topic and I am so excited to talk about it further only essay and my presentation. http://www.hrc.org/ This week for my blog I am going to be talking about elephant poaching. Lately the price of elephant ivory has dropped making it therefore more acsessable to people. What poaching is the killing of animals for a specific body part to sell it. They kill these elephants just for their ivory. Ivory is usually used for jewelry. Ivory is in high demand and therefore theses people are killing all of the elephants. Elephants are becoming endangered due to the fact that people want them for their horns. This is a senseless act that people are doing simply for the money. Their are a lot of other ways to make money and people are choosing to do this and it is down right terrible. Elephants are beautiful and majestic who are sweet at heart. They do not need to be poached rather people should make more jewlery out of metal. This way everyone wins. Elephants are beautiful and do not need to be extinct in the near future or ever. Therefore the people that are poaching animals should be imprisoned and made to pay a fine because these people are getting away with killing theses sweet animals. Overall I do not believe this is right and just. These animals are getting killed for no good reason not that there is ever a good reason. Anyway is short elephants should not be poached or any animal for that matter. It is just plain wrong and sad to think that babies are getting taken away from the families. There mothers are being taken away from mothers. Just think if your mom or died died how would you feel. That sad feeling is the feeling these elephants feel when there mom or dad or brother or sister gets taken away from them.https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/29/world/africa/ivory-elephants-china.html?module=WatchingPortal®ion=c-column-middle-span-region&pgType=Homepage&action=click&mediaId=thumb_square&state=standard&contentPlacement=5&version=internal&contentCollection=www.nytimes.com&contentId=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2017%2F03%2F29%2Fworld%2Fafrica%2Fivory-elephants-china.html&eventName=Watching-article-click This week for my blog I am going to the talking about a short story we read. We read a short story call lamb to the slaughter. This story is a bout a woman mary who was waiting for her husband to come home. When he gets home she asks him repeatedly if he was dinner he keeps saying no and she begins to get angry. She goes and grabs a frozen leg of lamb and hits him in the back of the head and he falls to the ground. At the time she never really let it sink in that she killed and him so she went to the grocery store to go get him vegetables from the grocery store for dinner. She came home and saw him dead and ran to him and started crying realizing that now of finally sunk in that she killed him. She calls the police and tells him that when she got home the grocery store that he was dead. The cops came and asked her questions. The cops never suspected that Mary killed him because her husband was a police officer and she knew all of them. She asked them if they were hungry and they did not want to impose and they finally cracked and they ate. Throughtout this whole time the lamb was in the oven. She pulled it out and they ate it. She remained in the living room and they ate in kitchen and they we talking about where the murder weapon could be and they said jokingly that it could be under their noses. Little did they know that they were eating the murder weapon. When they said that Mary began to laugh in the living room. As you can see the story was very interesting. http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/lamb.html

This week for my blog I am going to talk about a mock trial that we did i class for the short story Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe. We did a mock trial for it. The short story is about a man that hates his neighbors eye. He hates it so much that he wanted to kill the eye. In the end he ended up killing the old man. The trial was whether he was criminally insane which then he would go to jail and get a death sentence or if he was just insane which then he would to go a mental hospital. I was apart of the jury. The jury gets to make the decision whether he is insane or criminally insane. During the trial the defense and prosecution made some really great points. When the defense and prosecution were done making their points and closing arguments the jury went outside and deliberated and we made our decisions. It was a hung jury. Everybody in the jury thought he was insane but one person thought he criminally insane. That one person was me and I made it a hung jury. Overall the trial was amazing and a fun activity. The defense and prosecution made some amazing points about how Aidan was guilty and the defense made some amazing points about how he is insane and needs to go to a mental hospital. In conclusion the mock trial was so much fun and an amazing learning experience. Also the trial was very realistic we had a judge, a bailiff, witnesses, jury, and attorneys. The whole experience made it feel very real and overall I would do it again and it made me think that in the future I would like to be in the jury in a real trial. http://www.crf-usa.org/mock-trial-program/mock-trial-program.html
This week for my blog I am going to be talking about a book that my class is reading. We are reading To Kill A Mockingbird and so far has been really interesting. In the book we as a class are at the part where Atticus is in the middle of the trial with Tom Robinson. The book is so interesting because their dialect in the book is so different then mine and to see how other people lived their lives in the great depression. The book is very amazing in the sense of giving us the reader an inside look into a trial. In the chapters we are reading it talks about how Atticus gets Mr. Ewell to give him a clue and Mayela got a little nervous when Atticus was asking her questions. She got nervous and ended up looking at her dad a lot. Their was clearly something that she wanted to tell Atticus but could not tell him because her dad would get mad at her. The story so far it is very interesting. I love how curious Jem and Scout are. Jem and Dill are always trying to get Boo Radley to come out of the house. The book is always trying many twists and turns when you don’t expect it which is so cool. The story is always bring ing so many new characters and I love it. The fact that Mrs. Dubose died due to the factor a morphine overdose. It was so sad to Jem because as a punishment Jem had been reading to her to keep her mind off the withdrawals. She kept putting the clock back farther and farther everyday so they would be there later and later each and everyday because she liked having the children their. And Jem and Scout did no being there later nd later they were beginning to like it and not seeing it as a punishment but as a fun activity and they were adding it to their routines and it seemed normal but when she died it shattered Jem’s world and he was sad and depressed for a long time.http://www.shmoop.com/to-kill-a-mockingbird/
